A Russian drone attacked Odesa, a black seaport in Ukraine.  The drone attack has resulted in four people getting injured,  and damage to the energy infrastructure of the port.

The attack took place just as US President Donald Trump paused military aid to Ukraine, shortly after his heated exchange with Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy. In the exchange, Trump urged Zelenskyy to conclude the war, after which many world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, extended their unconditional support to Ukraine.

Trump also shared on Truth Social that people were paying disproportionate attention to Russia, and should divert it to migrants in the country instead. In the last few weeks, both Trump and Vice President JD Vance have amped up their pro-Russia and anti-Europe rhetoric.

“A strike has damaged energy infrastructure,betef” regional Governor of Odesa, Oleh Kiper, said in a post on the Telegram messaging app. “There are power cuts now in parts of the city.” This is not Russia's first attack on the city, it has previously targeted the city in March, 2024, where 16 people died.

The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, updated that two of the injured people have been hospitalised. In addition to power cuts in the region, private kindergartens and residential houses were also found to be damaged. Other than the four people, no other human injuries were reported.

Russia has not yet officially commented on the attack, and has maintained that targeting civilians was not purposeful, but its attack on its smaller neighbour has been consistent585bet, with strikes frequently targeting residential areas. Thousands of civilians have died since the last three years in the Russia-Ukraine war, with the majority of them being Ukrainians.
